AHA vs BHA. What's the difference?

With our new Pro Power Peel launching, we have had a lot of questions about the science behind the peel, how it works? Is it safe? What skin types is it suitable for? So we wanted to clear up a few of your questions!

Skincare enthusiasts have long been reaping the glow-boosting benefits of chemical exfoliants, but for many it can still seem daunting to hear the word 'acid' and think that it can be a healthy part of your skincare routine, without knowing, many products they are already using contains these ingredients.

The Pro Power Peel is our strongest and fastest working peel yet, it treats a number of skin concerns by using a range of active ingredients including AHA and BHA lines...

AHA

ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS

Alpha hydroxy acids - work on the surface of the skin, they dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells so that they can be easily removed, resulting in brighter, smoother and glowier skin. They also work on reducing the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and dark spots!

BHA

BETA HYDROXY ACIDS

Beta hydroxy acid – more commonly known as salicylic acid. Because it is oil-soluble it can penetrate beneath the skin’s surface, cleaning out excess sebum from the pores and reducing oiliness. Perfect for those with blemish/acne prone skin as it gets beneath the skins surface rather than working on the top layer!
