URBAN CALM X FUSION FESTIVAL X LAVA SHELL

Urban Calm exhibited at Liverpool’s Fusion Festival two-day event on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd September, where we were official gifting partners of the backstage lounge along with Lava Shell & Kokolokahi massage oils.

The festival returned to Otterspool promenade along with another fantastic line-up including Little Mix, Take That, Tinie Tempah and many more.  The event was teamed with Capital FM, Liverpool’s no.1 hit music station where they provided exclusive coverage across the festival weekend.

Our team from Urban Calm provided 15 minute & 30 minute massages & consultations for celebrity’s beauty bloggers & YouTube stars, who’ve have all sworn to return for more treatments when they’re in Liverpool, with Perrie Edwards stating, “It was the best massage I ‘ve ever had” after her massage using Lava Shells & Kokolokahi oils.

The team were honoured to provide massages for The Vamps, Perrie Edwards (Little Mix), Naughty Boy, Gabby Allen & Marcel Somerville and many more. Urban Calm is already proven a hit in both Liverpool based salons with profile celebrities visiting weekly. Check out some of the famous faces below who were loving their Lava Shell massages!

So, here’s the question that’s mostly asked… What exactly are Lava shells?

Lava shells are the ‘NEW’ hot stones. They work by adding a sachet of minerals inside the shell to which the activator, a saline solution is added, causing an exothermic reaction. Once activated the shells take between 5 and 10 minutes to heat up and then continue to generate heat for over an hour. As the shell is used, it will naturally transfer heat to the body and cool; when set aside and rested it will begin increasing in temperature, giving the therapist full control and ability to create a totally bespoke treatment for every client.

There are many benefits from a lava shell massage some include:

  • Deeper massage delivered due to the shells generating a continual heat

  •  The heat allows for a deeper penetration into the muscles so therapists can provide clients with a more effective treatment while using less effort and energy

  • Ego friendly – all ingredients are 100% natural.

  • Portable – no electricity or heater is required, reducing health & safety risks.

What are Lava shells made from?

There are two different types of Shells, there is ‘Natural’ and ‘Porcelain’. The Natural Shell are real hand-selected Tiger Clam Shells from the Philippines, which are recycled to be used within professional treatments. The Porcelain Lava Shells are handcrafted using high quality porcelain and crushed shells, the Shell’s are hand painted, replicating the beautiful appearance of natural shells.

Lava shell massages & all other massages are available in both our stores (Metquarter & Aintree) –  Check out our locations on our home page & call us for all enquiries or to book in.
