How To Get The Perfect Spray Tan

Spray tanning can be daunting for first timers. Over the years we have sprayed hundreds of women and have discovered a few tips and tricks along the way to make sure have with a lovely, even tan.

Firstly, make sure you are moisturising daily, not only is this an essential to ensure your tan lasts longer but, it also helps hydrate your skin preventing signs of aging and it also leaves it silky smooth. Before attending your appointment please make sure you have showered and washed away all possible remains of moisturiser as this may cause the tan to avoid these areas, leaving you with a patchy tan. After you have washed your spray tan off ensure you are moisturizing daily after your shower, as the hot water can strip your skin of natural oils and leave it feeling dry, causing your tan to begin to flake and fade quicker.

Secondly, exfoliate! This is super important when it comes to the longevity of your tan. Exfoliation removes dry/dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. It is important to add this to your skin care routine once-twice a week to ensure your skin is glowing, smooth and healthy.

Thirdly, wax or shave at least 24 hours before treatments. This is important as you need to leave time for your pores to close up. Applying tan immediately after waxing may cause you to have a patchy, uneven tan.

Lastly, wear loose dark clothes. This is key! Although we leave you time for your spray tan to dry this doesn’t mean your tan won’t budge. We always recommend you bring dark loose clothing such as a dress, or loose pants and a top – (even underwear can cause patches) – the reason we say ‘dark’ clothes is because of the possibility of tan transferring. Although the tan doesn’t stain you can get away with looking ‘normal’ and not tangoed for a couple hours after as the tan gradually darkens so wearing dark clothes can help to not give away spray tan secrets, rather than you’ve been to Barbados for two weeks.
